How does shipping and customs work?

All our orders come fully insured and with shipping already included in the final price, so you can be sure there's no hidden charges for you. We ship via UPS or USPS, and shipments usually take 3-5 business days to reach your door for US and Canadian customers. Extra services such as overnight shipping are available upon request at the buyer’s expense.

We handle all matters pertaining to customs for US customers; you don’t have to do a thing if you’re based in the US. We’re also very familiar with shipping to Canada.

As an additional security measure, our most valuable packages will include a tracking device with real time updates and online access.

Non US and Canada Customers

Customers living outside of the US and Canada are responsible for knowing the laws and regulations of their own country pertaining to customs and imports. We are not responsible for any unforseen circumstances should problems arise due to such issues, though we will do our best to work with you throughout the whole process.

How does the process work for a customized piece?

The process to make a custom piece usually takes 2-4 weeks, and is available at no additional cost for chains, rings, and bracelets. We only need 20% down upfront, then the rest only once it’s finished. After your piece has been made, we will ask for the rest of the payment, after which we will ship it directly to you.

By default we usually lock in the price at the time of order. Alternatively, you have the option to pay based on the gold price at the time of completion of the piece. Let us know beforehand if this is what you’d like to do.

I don’t really like the M-clasp, do you offer alternatives?

Yes we do! The M-clasp is what we use by default . However, upon request, we can also do lobster clasp, box clasp, and can even go claspless. Let us know whatever your preference is.

Why is the 22" chain the same weight as the 24" chain? Shouldn't it be lighter?

This is related to how Thai gold jewelry is made. The chains are made in fixed weights, and then the widths are adjusted based on the length of the chain. For example, let's say you wanted a two baht (30.5g) franco chain. The 22" version would be slightly thicker than the 24" version, but they would both weigh the same and have the same amount of gold, and therefore have the same price. The weights are always fixed, and the width is adjusted based on the length and weight.

Please see our About Thai Gold page if you would like to learn more.

Do you accept returns?

Yes we generally do, but there will be a restocking fee. Assuming your piece is still in good condition, we will usually offer at least the melt value of the gold for it, and perhaps even a small premium on top if it’s a particularly popular piece.

How do I know your pieces are authentic?

Our jewelry is sourced from reputable goldsmiths in Thailand, where the country’s gold industry adheres to strict regulations and standardizations. Virtually all the gold in Thailand, whether it be bullion or jewelry, is 23k or 96.5% pure to be precise. Most of our pieces are stamped “965”.

We encourage everyone who wants to be absolutely sure about the authenticity of the jewelry they have/order, whether it comes from us or somewhere else, to find a local jeweler who has an XRF device available for testing. Such tests typically cost $5-$10, though some will do it for free.

Do you have gold other than 23k?

We deal in mostly 23k gold, and also have some 24k chains available. We’ll also occasionally have a few 14k or 18k pieces, but not very often. Most of our pieces are 23k or 24k gold.
