Nearly all the gold jewelry in Thailand (and on this site) is 96.5% pure, which is just above 23 karats. This is what is known as “Thai Gold”. This high level of purity makes Thai Gold jewelry distinctively bright and yellow when compared to 14k or 18k jewelry.
With Thai gold jewelry, “baht” is the standard unit of weight, with one baht equaling roughly 15.2 grams, which is just under half an ounce. Smaller pieces such as rings, earrings and pendants are available for as light as 1/8 baht, or 1.9 grams. 1/4 baht and 1/2 baht are also common weights for rings and necklaces.
Heavier chains typically start at one or two baht, and can be made as heavy as 10 baht and sometimes even heavier!

While most jewelers in America and Europe typically charge anywhere from 50%-200% mark up for 14k or 18k jewelry, in Thailand 23k gold jewelry is available for a mere 5-10% mark up. And since most of our jewelry comes from Thailand, we are able to pass along these great savings and amazing deals to our customers.
